How does tutoring for Teach To Reach Tutoring work?
Here at Teach To Reach Tutoring, we pair students and teachers together based on strengths, areas of expertise, personality, and experience. You decide how many students you would like to work with, what your schedule is, and if you would like to tutor in person or virtually.
Do I have to currently be a teacher to apply for a tutoring position?
No, you do not have to be a current teacher to be a Teach To Reach Tutoring tutor! We have a mixture of current teachers, retired teachers, and teachers who previously taught in schools but have either switched to a different educational position or sought out an alternate career. We require at least 1 year of teaching experience.
Do I have to be a Virginia licensed teacher?
Although the majority of our tutors and students are located in Northern Virginia, you do not have to be a Virginia licensed teacher. You do, however, have to have a teaching license to apply to be a tutor.
Do I have to have tutoring experience?
Teaching in a classroom and working in small groups throughout your school day is what is going to provide you with the experience needed in order to tutor. With that being said, you do not have to have tutoring experience to apply.
What are your application requirements?
If you are interested in applying to be a tutor, you will need to submit an updated resume prior to an interview being scheduled. After your interview is completed, you will then need to have two or three professional references email a letter of recommendation on your behalf.
Do we receive a W9 tax form at the end of the tax year?
Yes, you will receive the appropriate tax documents from a certified accountant for your personal tax submissions.
